A visit to the vet

Today Lida had her first visit to the vet with us.  She was showered with so much love from all the staff!  We are super happy with our veterinary clinic.  They have several amazing doctors on staff.  And in a pinch, they can always squeeze you in.

Lida had some vaccinations and had her incision checked from her surgery.  The doctor says she is super pleased with Lida and she is "just perfect".

"You got a really good one" were her exact words.  She kept saying how pretty she is, and what a good girl.  She really really is.  💜

While I was there I noticed this poster on the wall in the examination room.

Do you notice what the second thing owners can do?

PICK UP YOUR DOGS POOP!!!!

I've noticed several neighbors NOT picking up their dog's poop the last few days and the trail I usually take Lida on is FULL of poop - and I'm guessing it's not all wild animals.

Perhaps this isn't a super risky parasite in our area, but why would you risk it?  Picking up poop isn't just about keeping our trails and lawns beautiful (and the bottom of my shoe), it's a HEALTH concern.

And I know what you're thinking - "oh well my dog is healthy and certainly doesn't have this parasite".

How are you certain?  Are you getting regular fecal samples?  Because they can pick it up from other dogs poop and you wouldn't know.  Or coyote poop.  Or fox.  So are you super confident about that now?  Because honestly, I wasn't!

Look, can we all just agree picking up your dogs' poop is a good idea?  No one wants to step in it - and honestly, I want to keep my dog happy and HEALTHY.  Ya, no one likes doing it.  And my dog literally craps a LOAF that barely fits in those little bags.  Sometimes I do use two.  But the bottom line is I DO IT.

Poop bags are available in a 500 pack at the dollar store.  Super cheap and effective.  And who doesn't have a MILLION extra grocery bags lying around?!  I know I certainly do!  If you need them, you can have them!!

Anyways, moving on:

Lida is already fully settled in.  She understands the routine.  We are both getting a bit stir crazy as we are missing our longer walks.  We are looking forward to playdates with our puppy owning friends!  And off-leash walking in the forest!

Stay tuned for more stories from Living with Lida!  Training starts soon!
